Kelly Blucher (Community Activist)
Community Engagement Coordinator
Workforce Central

Kelly Blucher is a mom of three wonderful children, Justice -16, Mason – 7 and Kennedy -5. She looks forward to getting married in July 2023 to her longtime partner, best friend and amazing father Norman Brickhouse. They have been together 15 years and have finally decided to take this leap.  Kelly is fiercely dedicated to her children and family, including their 140-pound puppy Lab/St. Bernard – Lincoln. She lives life to its fullest through laughter, a wild sense of humor, a lot of love and caring for our community. To understand Kelly, you will learn a long back story – full of trials, addiction, homelessness and let down early as a child by a broken system. Kelly has dedicated her life to ensuring that others do not have a similar path but instead voices are heard, and programs are written through lived experience and reality.

Currently, Kelly serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator for Workforce-Central. She began this position after nine years with Goodwill where she began as a donation attendant and quickly moved through advancements into Community Engagement. She has become a well-known advocate for childcare, homelessness, career pathways, and more. Kelly also cares for her mother, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 63. She describes herself as an onion, as there are so many layers to understand why and who she is today and she finds the most joy in uplifting voices not often heard as she was once that voice. In 2021, she ran for Tacoma City Council, not to be a politician but to speak side by side with our Tacoma community. This was likely the most challenging thing she has ever done and took quite a toll on her mental health. She often says she is still recovering from politics.

Kelly looks forward to this opportunity with ALF and to meeting Class XXX.
