First Friday

As of July 2022, an estimated 4,300 people in Pierce County are experiencing homelessness. The county has 1,300 emergency shelter beds and 30 safe parking units, leaving about 2,970 people without shelter each night. By all accounts, the homelessness crisis remains on an upward slope. In 2021, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development reported a 6.2% increase in Washington’s homeless population.

Hear from ALF’s Senior Fellow’s Mike Yoder (Class XXIV, Associated Ministries, Executive Director) and Duke Paulson (Class XVIII, Tacoma Rescue Mission, Executive Director) addressing the issues of some of those unhoused individuals in Pierce County. What can, and is, being accomplished regarding the many problems of those experiencing homelessness? Are there short-term approaches to the needs and concerns of neighbors and businesses? What are the longer-term solutions being considered? Come, learn, and discuss the issues.

You don’t want to miss an informative conversation. This is a free in-person event, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED (see below).
